About

I am Kelly Reeser, a Registered Dietitian (RD) and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) with type I diabetes. I was diagnosed with diabetes at age 5 and, strange as it sounds, I have grown to love the disease. I am fascinated by the relationship between food and the body, and our ability to change health with lifestyle!

I am passionate about nutrition and diabetes and it is my goal to help others manage and prevent chronic diseases like obesity, diabetes, and heart disease through lifestyle modification.

I studied nutrition and health promotion at the University of Iowa and Dominican University, I have over 20 years of personal experience living with diabetes, and I have provided counseling in inpatient and outpatient hospital settings at the Memphis VA Medical Center and Jesse Brown VA Medical Center to come to a very important realization: no 2 people are the same, and what works for one person may not work for another.

I have seen the impact that dietary and lifestyle changes can make, both personally and professionally; and, I hope to make everyone as excited about food, nutrition, and health as I am!

My Philosophy: There is no “Perfect Diet”.
“Diet” is my least favorite word. Rather than focusing on rigid recommendations, I help teach ways to fit basic healthy living ideas into a regular day.

We all have our own priorities, likes, dislikes, goals, and lives, which is exciting for me, because: I love problem solving with nutrition and health! We will work together to determine what is most important to you and brainstorm small steps to take towards big improvements!

Food is fun as long as we understand how to listen to our bodies and enjoy the foods we love while also preventing and/or managing health concerns and chronic diseases like obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.
