I am Kelly Reeser, a Registered Dietitian (RD) and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) with type I diabetes. I was diagnosed with diabetes at age 5 and, strange as it sounds, I have grown to love the disease. I am fascinated by the relationship between food and the body, and our ability to change health with lifestyle.
I am passionate about nutrition and it is my goal to help others manage and prevent chronic diseases like obesity, diabetes, and heart disease through lifestyle modification.
I studied nutrition and health promotion at the University of Iowa and Dominican University, I have over 25 years of personal experience living with diabetes, and I have provided counseling in both inpatient and outpatient settings and have come to a very important realization: no two people are the same. What works for one person never works for all of us.
I have seen the impact that lifestyle changes can make and I hope to make everyone as excited about food, nutrition, and health as I am.
My Philosophy: Be you! There is no perfect diet. Rather than pushing rigid rules the lead to frustration and feeling deprived, I encourage small changes that are realistic in your world to help you create a new and healthy “normal”.
We all have our own priorities, likes, dislikes, goals, and lives. We will work together to determine what is most important to you and brainstorm small steps to take towards big improvements!
